Classroom Makeover 2009
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Classroom Makeover?
This is an exciting
project that will allow the Foundation to remodel a science
laboratory at Los Alamos High School. The room currently needs
many upgrades; this project will allow for an improved learning
environment for our students.
When will the project take place?
The Foundation
will begin this project on June 1, 2009, and the renovations will
be complete before school begins on August 17, 2009. This
timetable will allow for minimum disruption of the school
maintenance schedule and no disruption of students.
How much of my donation will contribute directly to the
project?
Every dollar raised in the Classroom Makeover
campaign will go directly to the project. No administrative cost
will be taken out of your donation. The foundation is fortunate
to have several Charter Donors that will cover the administrative
costs of the Foundation during the upcoming year.
Why wont this improvement be paid for by the upcoming
bond?
The Los Alamos School Board conducted a 20-Year
Facilities Renewal Plan and determined that many capital projects
are needed. However, E-Wing at the high school is not stated for
this type of renovation.
What improvements will be made?
The following
upgrades will be made by the foundation: A permanent wall will
replace the accordion-type wall that presently exists, new
laboratory stations and fixtures, lighting and technology
improvements. LAPS will participate in this project by providing
asbestos abatement and new vinyl flooring.
How can I help?
Please carefully consider a
monetary donation to the worthwhile project.
